The earliest surviving Chinese art is carved jade from ~5,000 BCE and they’ve been carving ever since.

This early 1800s wood carving has remnants of red, black, gold and green lacquer. Lacquered carved wood has been a central Chinese art form since at least the Han Dynasty.
